The LS Range of Letterboxes                 Echo Four ( July 2003 )

The above illustration shows the standard size LS suitable for a 8.5" ( 215 mm ) thick wall . We can to special order supply sheet metal cases to suit walls up to 24" thick . The drawing on the left shows the ideal size of the aperture to be formed in the wall . The sizes allow approximately 3mm clearance all round .

It is important on the Front wall to position the sheet metal case so that a minimum of 5mm protrudes from the wall as the castings are recessed on the back . The back of the case can protrude to a larger dimension on the inside wall if so desired . ( Standard = 215 mm not 220 mm )

Rear view of the completed assembly. Note the rear casting can be removed if required  by undoing the four brass nuts in the back with the key provided which may assist in the fixing process . If the Lettasafe is unassembled for fixing it is important that the case protrudes forwards from the front face of the gate / fence by 5mm as the the casting has a recess on the rear face .

This illustration shows the size of the aperture to be cut into the gate or fence. The hole should be trimmed with a timber frame ( suggest ex, 50mm x 25mm ) screwed to the rear face . A second trimmer frame could be attached to the front to sandwich the gate or fence boarding if preferred .

This side view shows the fixing angle bracket in place . The angle brackets should be offered up once the Lettasafe is in position . Then mark the holes onto the side of the case .  Drill the holes 5.5mm dia. Bolt the angles to the side of the case with the six bolts provided . Then screw the brackets to the trimmer .
